Bummer, dudes. The reboot of cult-classic franchise ToeJam and Earl has been postponed until 2018 as this recent trailer reveals.
ToeJam and Earl: Back In The Groove has its roots on Kickstarter, with development starting in 2015. It is being handled by Humanature Studios and is set to be published by Adult Swim Games. The game apes the style of the original ToeJam and Earl, which was released exclusively for the Sega Genesis.
A recent update on Back In The Groove’s kickstarter page explains that the devs tried really hard to get this one out by the end of 2017, but that they just need more time to assure the game is as fresh ‘n’ funky as possible.
To be honest, as someone who’s followed crowdfunded games for a while, I kind of figured this would happen. Hopefully, all this additional time leads to the game being another Shovel Knight and NOT another Mighty No.9. While I’m a little disappointed…I guess my wallet could use a little time to breath after the beating it got from all the great titles that released this year (and I’ve got a few more to get still).
Will you be picking this one up once it finally arrives? Let me know in the comments or over on Twitter.
